Southern Cross is hiring a Gas Leak Repair Mechanic . This role is responsible for performing inspection, repair work, integrity test, and re-light procedures along with other associated work on premises such as service line inspection and natural gas detector installation. This is an "A-Mechanic" style position.

Compensation $32/hr

Hours: Monday-Friday w/occasional weekends (Rotating shift position)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respond to inside/outside gas leak calls that are identified as a result of a service line inspection or natural gas detector installation as directed
• Perform repairs on jurisdictional pipe (before the meter outlet) as directed by the Client
• Perform integrity test and relight as directed and follow up repairs and/or issuance of warning tags
• Supplement Client operational forces with follow up inspection for compliance adherence
• Prioritize notification and communication of all corrosion level 3 and 4 issues and AOCs
• Provide referral notification for construction and/or gas delivery services for additional needed work
• Acquire and replenish mandatory equipment and materials to perform required work
• Preserve effective relationships with Client operational leadership
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess all Con Edison operator qualifications (Transcript needed)
• Must possess Northeast Gas Association (NGA) operator qualifications (Transcript needed)
• High school diploma or GED is required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat
• Ability to learn new systems and technology as required by company and client
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative to perform tasks.
• Ability to perform with a high level of accuracy
• Ability to meet project deadlines

ADDITIONAL

• Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
• This is a Field-Based role requiring full compliance with all safety and vehicle usage protocols

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions; duties are performed primarily in an outdoor setting with exposure to changing weather conditions
• Position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, and lift up to 30 pounds
• Position may necessitate the ability to climb up and down ladders
