Job Summary

The Mining Engineering Intern will support underground and surface operations at the mine by learning and performing entry-level engineering, operational, and project management tasks in an active mining environment. The role provides practical exposure to mine engineering, contractor oversight, and water treatment facilities while contributing to safe and efficient site operations.

Essential Functions

  • Perform work safely and completely in a manner that does not create risk of harm to self or others.
  • Learn and perform entry-level mining engineering tasks under the direction of site engineers including but not limited to ventilations surveys, geotechnical assessments, quality control, water balances and services mapping.
  • Coordinate with their supervisor to define a mutually agreed-upon deliverable for the internship period.
  • Assist in oversight of contractors performing work on surface and underground.
  • Assist with maintenance activities in the underground workings and surface facilities.
  • Assist with project management tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in the operation and repair of the water treatment plant.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct requirements.
  • Meet or exceed performance expectations established by management.
  • Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in carrying out assigned tasks.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Help develop other department personnel in performing the duties listed above.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Upper-level student in Mining Engineering.
  • Enrolled in school for the Fall 2026 term; proof of enrollment required.
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher; transcripts required.
  • Underground and surface MSHA training preferred.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical examination, including drug and alcohol screening.
  • Able to perform physical work in a demanding environment.
  • At least 18 years of age and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and common office software for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General understanding of mining operations and a basic understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
  • Hard-working team player.

Salary range: $25/hr
