The Manager (MTO) is the position responsible for the safe operation, supervisory management and general oversight of all train dispatching territory incorporated among "PSCC" and "40" Office environments. The MTO is the front-line manager with responsible authority for those performing service to safely move trains and maintenance of way equipment. The MTO protects the Department and Company from risk ensuring that all direct reports and subordinates generically comply with rules and/or procedures in addition to ensuring that all parties are coordinated in their duties. In addition to managing subordinates, territory and potential incidents, the MTO will likely be the first point of contact to other internal and external stakeholders, including superior officers, CNOC, FRA and/or Amtrak Media Relations to ensure messaging through the company is clear and without confusion. The MTO responsibility to ensure that the Train Movement office is a safe environment, facility and one with an inspired culture that promotes a healthy working environment that recognizes diversity, but which must also be managed with standards of clear direction, discipline and an overriding conscience of Amtrak’s Mission Statement “We provide safe, efficient and effective intercity passenger rail mobility, consisting of friendly, high-quality service that is trip-time competitive with other intercity travel options.
The salary for the Mgr Train Ops I is $114,000 - $119,000 and the salary for the Mgr Train Ops II is $124,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation. If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.
In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
