Our goal is to enhance the lives of every child that attends our facility. All Part-Time Tutors must be committed to providing top quality academic enrichment for students enrolled in our program.
About Position: The Part-Time Academic Tutor provides high-impact, targeted academic support to children in a specialized, non-classroom setting (e.g., after-school or weekend programs). The Tutor is responsible for planning and delivering individualized or small-group instructional sessions focused on literacy, numeracy, or specific subjects, ensuring students achieve measurable academic progress.
Primary responsibilities: Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging and effective tutoring sessions for students in subjects ranging from reading fundamentals to advanced mathematics.
- Ratio Management: Conduct sessions effectively in both one-on-one and small-group settings (maximum of 4 students), adjusting instructional intensity and focus as necessary.
- Assessment & Documentation: Administer formative assessments to track student growth, maintain session notes, and document progress toward academic goals.
- Curriculum Adaptation: Identify individual student learning gaps and adapt existing materials or create custom resources to meet specific needs.
- Communication: Maintain professional, proactive communication with parents, providing regular updates on student progress and offering recommendations for at-home support.
- Professionalism: Maintain punctuality, confidentiality, and professional boundaries, adhering to all center policies.
- Training: Complete any and all training required by LMWM for part-time, non-ECE classroom staff.
Minimum Qualifications (Based on Subject Level):
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, a specific content area (e.g., Math, English), or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of successful experience tutoring, mentoring, or teaching children, demonstrating expertise in the subject(s) to be tutored.
- Clearances: Must successfully complete all required background checks, including state and federal clearances.
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, strong organizational skills, and a passionate commitment to student success.
