Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer/Process Engineer to join a growing engineering firm specializing in industrial chemical processing facilities. This role involves designing, analyzing, and optimizing chemical processes for clients in industries such as phosphate, fertilizer, and heavy industrial plants. Candidates must have strong technical expertise, the ability to work on multiple projects, and excellent collaboration skills. Key Responsibilities: Develop mass/energy balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and P&IDs. Perform process equipment sizing and specifications (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, reactors, etc.). Conduct pipe flow modeling, control valve sizing, and PRV/PSV design. Utilize AutoCAD for design modifications (Plant 3D a plus). Prepare technical reports, FEL studies, and cost estimates. Provide construction support, installation inspections, and commissioning assistance. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution. Qualifications: B.S. in Chemical Engineering (required). 5+ years of industrial chemical process design experience. Strong knowledge of unit operations, heat/mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and reaction kinetics. Expertise in pipe flow modeling, control valve sizing, and PRV/PSV design. AutoCAD proficiency (Plant 3D a plus). EI or PE certification preferred. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. Job Details: Location: Lakeland, FL (must be within commuting distance). Pay: $40-$60/hr DOE (contract) | $80K-$120K+ (direct hire, higher for PE). Schedule: M-F, 8 AM - 5 PM (some flexibility). Travel: Minimal (~10%, mostly in FL & Southeast). Remote Work: Hybrid potential (1 day/week in FL; full-time option for senior-level in NC). Overtime: Project-based, paid at 1.5x rate.
