Position Summary

As a Dental Assistant, you will support the clinical needs of patients and doctors. Responsibilities include patient care, recordkeeping, and appointment coordination. You will work under the supervision of dentists and closely with dental hygienists in daily clinical operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of dental instruments and assist the dentist chairside during patient care.

  • Maintain inventory control in treatment areas.

  • Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC guidelines.

  • Provide excellent patient interactions regarding scheduling, follow-up care, post-surgical instructions, and documentation.

  • Perform basic lab procedures such as taking impressions, pouring models, and preparing cases for external labs.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Quick to learn new technologies and systems; eagerness to grow professionally.

  • Applicable licensing required depending on the state of employment.

  • 1+ years of experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

  • X-ray license required.

Knowledge and Skills/Expected Competencies

  • Familiarity with dental instruments and patient care practices.

  • Clear communication skills for conveying clinical information.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.

Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment

This position requires the ability to stand and walk regularly, use hands and arms to operate equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision and focus adjustment. The role may involve travel to clinical locations. The work environment is typically low to moderate in noise level.
