Position Title: Sewing Machine Operator

Wage: $17.00 - $20.00/hour

Shift: 1st

Hours: 6:45am – 5:15pm (Monday – Thursday), 6:45 – 5:00pm (Friday)

Sewing Machine Operator Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial sewing machines and prepare machines by changing needles and thread, oiling and changing bobbin and securing attachments
- Operate machinery including automatic feed cutter, handheld hot knife, slide track rotary cutter, pneumatic grommet machines, pressurized die press, grinder to sharpen scissors, chop saw, band saw, etc.
- Operate computer program for automated machines that can mark and cut material orders
- Operate various types of equipment to move material and orders including hand pallet jacks, hydraulic lift, carts and dolly
- Operate hand tools including scissors, drill, hand press and hand clamps
- Hand cut a variety of materials in various departments based on prints or patterns
- Draw or create patterns
- Follow prints and written instructions with excellent attention to detail
- Sew products together with a wide range of materials
- Meet delivery deadlines by working with the team to ensure products are made correctly
- Prepare and package completed orders for shipments or deliveries
- Monitor material inventory and place order requests as needed to ensure an efficient production workflow
- Maintain clean and organized work area with safety being a priority

Requirements for Sewing Machine Operator:
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fraction to decimal conversion with provided conversion chart
- Basic knowledge of geometry and geometric calculations preferred
- Able to read a tape measure in feet and inches to 1/8”
- Able to perform repetitive hand motions to operate scissors and handheld cutting knife
- Able to ascend/descend a ladder no greater than 6 feet tall
- Able to kneel, stoop, bend and reach above shoulder height repetitively
- Able to properly lift objects weighing 40lbs unassisted on a regular basis and up to 70lbs (with assistance) from floor to work surface height and/or shelving of varying heights
