This is NOT a driving or delivery role like rideshare or gig work - it's a professional support position where you'll be trained to work one-on-one with adults with developmental disabilities , helping them learn key life skills.
Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructors work one-on-one with people with developmental disabilities to empower your clients to reach their personal goals of independence and community participation. You would teach independent living skills in a motivating, personalized, and professional environment.
As an Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor , you will:
Support adults with developmental disabilities in achieving personal independence.
Teach practical skills such as budgeting, basic cooking, transportation, and more.
Drive to meet clients in their homes and community (you'll be reimbursed for mileage).
You will typically work with 3–6 clients per week in Alameda and possibly Contra Costa Counties .
You're already used to driving, have flexible availability, and enjoy working with people.

You're seeking part-time hours that work around your current schedule - or looking to shift into a new full-time role .
You want to make a positive impact in your community.
Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license
Personal auto liability insurance with minimum limits of $100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident (bodily injury)
Able to pass a DOJ/FBI fingerprint background check
Desire to help others and learn new skills
Comfortable driving to client locations (mileage reimbursed)
$20.00–$25.00/hour
