VCA Murphy Road Animal Hospital is expanding its Patient Care Team and seeking a Veterinary Assistant !

Schedule: Full-time with flexible scheduling.

Position Overview

Our Veterinary Assistants support our Doctors and Veterinary Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Duties will include:

Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.

• Safely restrain animals for treatments and diagnostics.

• Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision.

• Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces).

• Perform basic diagnostic tests, including radiographs and blood tests.

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.

• Educate clients on general animal care, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions.

• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and kennels.

• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and answering phones.

• Filling prescriptions.

• Providing compassionate care and a home away from home for boarded and hospitalized pets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 6+ months of experience in a veterinary setting.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Genuine compassion for animals and their owners.
